What is the PMP certification?

The Project Management Professional (PMP)® certification is a globally recognized certification that validates the skills and knowledge of project managers. It is administered by the Project Management Institute (PMI), and is considered to be the gold standard for project management certifications.

The PMP certification is designed for experienced project managers who have demonstrated their ability to apply project management principles and practices to the successful delivery of projects. To earn the PMP certification, candidates must meet certain eligibility requirements, including:
  • A minimum of 36 months of project management experience leading and directing projects.
  • 35 hours of project management education.
  • Passing the PMP certification exam.

The PMP certification exam is a 4-hour, multiple-choice exam that covers the five project management process groups: initiating, planning, executing, monitoring and controlling, and closing. The exam is updated every 3 years to reflect the latest project management practices.
